There was a really angry fight in the hallway this morning, in the switch time between second and third period. I saw Jeremy with his nose bleeding like crazy. I don't actually know him, we've never said a word to each other, but I know OF him. Anyway, usually when a fight breaks out I'm kind of mushed into the crowd on the sidelines watching, but today I was standing alone. In the middle of the hallway. Three feet away from a screeching teacher and violent couple of teenagers.
I bolted to Mrs. Mo's class and had a minor panic attack. I HATE violence, and I wish I'd done something to stop it. I was close enough where I could have tried to pull them apart and keep the teacher from getting so furious. I don't think teachers should call kids names like he did, even if the kid is being a total D-Bag. It's like stooping to their level, and teachers should have higher standards than that, I feel.
When I was a wee tot, all I did was watch British Sitcoms like 'Keeping up Appearances' and Monty Python's Flying Circus. I read English novels from The Chronicles of Narnia to the Marriage Diaries. There were times when I even accidentally switched into a british accent, completely unaware of it.
So over time, I developed a British Superiority Complex. Everything British is obviously better than American. So when I was informed of an American version of 'The Office', I politely refused.
I caved. I effin' LOVE the American version. It's HILARIOUS, and sweet, and kind, and real. It's awkward and unsure, and it's characters are relateable. Plus, IT'S LASTING LONGER THAN TWO SEASONS. Not just TWO, but SIX so far, SIX SEASONS.
There goes my BSC.

I have felt the same way about the American Office. I've had season 1 on my iPod for about two years and still haven't watched more than one episode because I was so attached to the British version of the show. I guess I'll have to break down and watch it eventually. Thanks, fellow Britophile, for giving me a little push in the direction.
